2007 Education Summit

For the last 40 years, the Institute of Marketing & Management (IMM) has been helping Indian industry and businesses, as a catalyst, for succeeding in providing trained managers and marketers, carrying out research studies,

conferences & seminars on relevant themes, thus encouraging excellence in various fields.

The Institute hosted an Education Summit on “Marketing of India’s Higher Education: Worldwide” at the IMM Convention Centre, B-11, Qutab Institutional Area, New Delhi-110016 during November 12-14, 2007 in colLabouration with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) . The objective of the summit was to take stock of the level of technology and upgradation in selected fields and measures which need to be undertaken to transform India into a world-class destination for higher education with global quality, but, at a much lower cost compared to developed countries

Nearly 250 delegates comprised of renowned Universities, Colleges of India, Corporates (both Public and Private sectors and Government officials from all over India participated in the3-day Summit. It was inaugurated by Hon’ble Dr.A.R.Kidwai, Governor of Haryana and National President, IMM. Hon’ble Prof.V.N.Rajasekharan Pillai, Vice Chancellor, IGNOU gave an overview of the Summit. Dr.Gaganjit Singh, Director General, IMM delivered the Welcome Address. Guest of Honour was H.E. Dr. Herbert Traxl, former Ambassador of Austria to India who gave an insight into Education of Fine Arts in India and abroad.

Jayakumar, VC, Sikkim Manipal University of Health, Medical & Technological Sciences- Technical Session – 3- (Distance Education); Prof.V.L.Chopra, Member, Planning Commission- Technical Session – 4 (Agriculture) ; Prof. R.K.Khar, former Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, Hamdard University- Technical Session – 5- (Medical & Pharmaceutical) ; Mr. M.P. Bezbaruah, IAS (R),ex-Secretary, Tourism, Government of India- Technical Session – 6- (Travel & Tourism) ; Dr. Inder Jeet, Principal, College of Vocational Studies, New Delhi on Technical Session -7 (Engineering & Technology)

Dr. Jagjit Singh, Executive President, IMM in his concluding remarks mentioned that the main purpose of the Summit was to start a process of stirring up of a country wide debate for raising standards of Higher Education in India so as to attract foreign students in large numbers into the country.
